Reach For A Dream Foundation:

We believe in the power of dreams. We encourage children to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses. And we seek as far as possible to make dreams come true. Our vision is to grow the Foundation, enabling us to continue giving hope to children fighting life-threatening illnesses through the fulfilment of their dreams, and to further help as many children facing these illnesses through our national projects such as our Camp Sunshine, Queen For A Day, Captain Courage, Show You Care Send A Bear and our Jabulani Kingdom Hospital entertaining projects that all function on an on-going basis.

Reach For A Dream

For 29 years the Reach For A Dream Foundation, has brought hope, joy and healing to countless South African children. These children between the ages of 3 and 18 years have used their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses such as cancer and leukaemia, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, renal failure and various blood disorders.
Reach For A Dream seeks to alleviate the strain that a life-threatening illness places on these children and their families by providing the children with the opportunity to realise their dream. Reach For A Dream enriches children's lives by making dreams come true and as a result, distracting them from the needles, medication and hospital environment. These young children are under extreme pressure to deal with these medical issues and are in desperate need of our encouragement. In addition, Reach For A Dream offers the child a magical moment to regain their childhood that is being lost to an illness.

By entering as a Dream Chaser in either the 55km or 106km Herald Continental Cycle Tour Road Races, supporting the Kiddies races or donating when you complete your online registration, you can make a difference in the life of a child and assist Reach For A Dream in realising these special dreams.

Imveli Cycling Academy:

Imveli Cycling Academy started in 2014 and was found by Lukholo Badi. The academy vision and goals is that there is a wealth of talent in the townships that need to be found and groomed for future cycling champions.
Imveli Cycling Academy takes youth from previously disadvantaged regions, develops and mentor them in cycling and assist with their education.

Imveli Cycling Academy

Sport is a mechanism through which further skills can get developed like life skills and attempts to take the youth off the streets away from drugs and crime. It brings social upliftment to youth that could turn to drugs and crime. Cycling can create a platform for exposure and professional international career.

The leaders in the club bring hope and are role models that the youth can strive towards emulating them and achieving their goals in sport and life.Imveli Cycling Academy has 24 active members that have bicycles and another 63 members part of the academy still requiring bicycles. The numbers are not limited to this as there is many more potential youths that could achieve in cycling but just has to be found within the community. A problem that the academy face is that there is a number of willing and talented youth but without equipment i.e. bicycles, (they cannot participate).

Cycling academy gives youth hope that normally would not have any due to circumstances. Taking them off the streets and providing life skills training, mentoring them and assisting with education will greatly enhance all their lives and return hope to them as they can see they have the potential to either achieve in cycling or have the skills to acquire work once they leave school.
The government has strict transformation and development criteria for all sporting codes. Cycling needs to bring through champions of colour but cannot do it alone from a provincial body a club at grass roots level need to assist.
The academy has a model and a vision similar to the Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy that has been running for many years in Cape Town. If a similar program can run successfully in Port Elizabeth it would be a major boost for the youth in Port Elizabeth’s (Motherwell, KwaZakhele, Uitenhage and Walmer)
