| Parking: |
| Boardwalk Casino, behind Buffalo Bills & Something Good Parking Areas. Note that you will need to be parked before the start of the race at 06h00 as traffic will be interrupted for the start. Follow this link to see parking areas. |

| The Route: |
| Traffic Officers and Marshalls will man the route. Cyclists must obey the officials or face disqualification. Cyclists must obey the rules of the road, save where authorised by Traffic Officers. The routes are detailed on this site and cyclists must familiarise themselves with their route. No protest relating to deviation will be entertained. Slipstreaming behind vehicles is not permitted. |

| Late Entries: |
| Entry fees are non-refundable. If the Race Office has received your entry, but your payment remains outstanding past the closing date for entries, the entry will be considered a late entry and will therefore carry the additional late entry charge and no timing will take place. |

| Seeding: |
The Herald VW Cycle Tour is a qualifying and seeding event for the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour 2012, the Pick ‘n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2011 and other major national cycling events. In the 79km Schools & Open Challenge, the U16 categories will take into account the restricted gears as well as the criteria necessary to participate in that category. Cyclists will be seeded according to specific criteria as set out at the discretion of the organisers. All seeding is done on the Super Seeding Ladder. The Super Seeding Ladder includes races from the last year that were over 90km and Chip Timed. |

| Substitutions: |
| You may not sell your number, or allow anyone else to ride under that number. Should you be in breach of this your name will be forwarded to Cycling SA. You may organise a substitution with the Race Office. This will be done for a Fee of R100-00. The original entry fee will not be refunded, but the number will be withdrawn. |

| Registration: |
| Entrants are required to produce their valid Cycling SA licence card in order to receive their entry to the event. If you do not have a licence and your name is not on the list supplied by Cycling SA, you will have to purchase a temporary licence at a cost of R35-00. Registration is at the the Herald VW Cycle Tour Expo, in the Tsitsikamma Conference Centre at the Boardwalk Casino, Hobie Beach, Port Elizabeth. The first 4000 participants will receive a goodie bag. Note that the contents of the bag might not be the same for all competitors. |

| Your race registration confirmation will be SMS'd by 3 February 2011. You need to bring this SMS'd race number to registration when you collect your race pack. |

| Timing System: |
| RaceTec, previously known as Winning Time, is the Official Timing System for the Herald VW Cycle Tour 2011. Existing Winning Time Chips may still be used for timing at the Herald VW Cycle Tour. If you do not have a Winning Time or RaceTec Timing Chip, you will need to purchase a RaceTec Timing Chip at a fee over and above the cost of the entry fee. This can be done at Race Registration . You may also purchase RaceTec Time Chips through some of the other qualifying races for The Argus Pick ‘n Pay event like the Pick ‘n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge. | Cut off Time: |
| Participants must complete the course in 6 hours or less in order to qualify as finishers and to receive a medal. Support vehicles and marshals will be withdrawn after the cut off time. |

| Results: |
| These will be available at http://www.heraldcycletour.co.za. A full set of results will be published in The Herald in the week following the event (Note that these results will be provisional). Any queries should be submitted in writing by the 11th February 2011. |

| Prize Money: |
| Prize money to the value of R100 000-00 will be available. Full details on this website. Note that in terms of CSA rules, prize money may only be paid to Cyclists Licenced with CSA and 10% of all Prize Money won will go to CSA. Note also that both tandem riders must be CSA race licenced to qualify for cash prizes. Lucky draw prizes are available to all participants. |

| Medals: |
| All finishers receive a Medal on completion of the route within the time limit. |

| Water Points: |
| See map for the positions of the water points. POWERADE is the official energy drink sponsor for this event and Water and Powerade will be available at all waterpoints. Toilets will be positioned at these points as well. |

| Medical Support: |
| GARDMED is the official medical sponsor and will provide medical support on the route as well as at the finish. There will also be Physio support at the finish. |

| Waiver and Indemnity: |
| Participants take part entirely at their own risk and agree that they shall have no claim whatsoever against the organising body, any individual or official marshal, assistant, helper or agent, the sponsors or any local authority or their employees, in respect of any loss or damage whatsoever which participants may suffer arising from any injury to their person or loss or damage to their property as a result of, or arising out of, whether directly or indirectly, the participants arrival and departure therefrom, attendance at registration, prize-giving or other function therof, any loss or damage to bicycles or other equipment, however such loss or damage may arise regardless of whether or not the same shall have been caused directly or indirectly by the negligence albeit gross, of one or more of the aforementioned parties. Persons signing this entry form as guardian of a minor hereby consent to such minor being bound by the aforementioned parties to the extent, if any to which such minor is not capable of waiving his/her rights as stipulated above. |

| Kiddies Road Cycling Challenge: |
| The Children's Cycling Challenge will be held at the Hobie Beach Race Village on Saturday, 5 February 2011 at 09H00. Entries will be taken during normal Race Registration at the REACH FOR A DREAM Expo Stand in the Tsitsikamma Conference Centre on Friday, 4 February 2011 and at the Hobie Beach Race Village Kiddies Park on Saturday before the start of the event. There will be 2 Kiddies Challenge options, a Toddlers Dash for the Under 3 year's and a 3km lap race for the youngsters under the age of 10 years. |

| 30km Family Fun Ride: |
| The 30km Fun Cycle Ride will take place after the Children's Cycle Challenge at 10H00 on Saturday, 5 February 2011. Entries will be taken during normal Race Registration in the Tsitsikamma Conference Centre on Friday, 4 February 2011 and at the Hobie Beach Race Village on Saturday before the start of the event. This event is open to everyone, but children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. |
